Our Stories – Our Times Volunteer (NI)
“We are looking for volunteers from Northern Ireland to help with our project “Our Stories – Our Times”
You will take part in capturing and recording 100 stories from past volunteers and employees of the British Red Cross and the public.
Volunteers will receive technical and theoretical training in oral history, heritage, and audio-visual skills. You'll play a part in writing the history of the Red Cross in Northern Ireland.
The project aims to engage new audiences with the work of the British Red Cross and its unique history within Northern Ireland. The project is made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
To be considered for this role, you must be based in Northern Ireland or a nearby county
We would like you to:
- Be able to volunteer up to March-2023
- Be able to volunteer 1-2 days per month (flexible)
- Be able to travel locally
- Have access to a mobile phone
- Be able to attend training sessions, briefings and team meetings as appropriate.
Where possible, interviews will be held face-to-face. However, if necessary, we would be able to arrange virtual interviews via Zoom.
Training commitment:
- British Red Cross induction - 2 online modules (average 2-3 hours to complete)
- A full day face-to-face mandatory event covering technical and theoretical training in oral history, heritage, and audio-visual skills that will be delivered during the month of November
