Emergency Response Volunteer (Reading)

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist us prepare and support, before, during and after a disaster and Emergency event.

We operate as a part of an essential team of people working with Multi agency partnerships, who may request our assistance, they are category 1 & 2 responders (Fire service, Police service, Local authorities, NHS, Utility companies and the wider Voluntary network). Your support will be vital to help provide Humanitarian Assistance.

You need to be:

  • Living no more than 45 minutes travelling time from the base at 90 Eastern Avenue, Reading, RG1 5SF

  • Available to support on a pre-arranged Rota system. This tends to be an offer of 2-3 shifts per month (within a 24/7 period)

  • Preferably a driver who has held a valid driving licence for a minimum of 2 years and which allows you to drive in the UK.

  • Access to your own vehicle would be beneficial but not essential

  • Are available to undertake around 35 hours of required e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions in the first few months of volunteering (please see details in the Learning Pathway attached) plus refresher training.

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo an Enhanced with Adults barred Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
