Walk for Humanity Manchester Join our dynamic team and lend your skills and enthusiasm to our exciting walking event, Walk for Humanity Manchester - a 10k sponsored walk taking place in central Manchester on 21 September 2024. The circular route starts and finishes at Castlefield Bowl. We’re looking for volunteers who can help us to ensure that our valued supporters have a memorable and fantastic experience on the day.
An event of this size requires a top-notch team behind the scenes on the day and we’d love your help! We’re looking for volunteers to help with a range of roles including, but not limited to:
Marshalls on route: Guide our walkers along the designated route, provide directions, and help ensure they are safe.
Helping out in the charity village: Assist with setup, breakdown, and activities on the day; Welcoming participants and helping deal with general enquiries and on the day registrations; Present finisher medals to our deserving walkers; Bucket collecting in the charity village.
Experience and Skills: No prior experience is required - just bring along your energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to support and cheer on our walkers, regardless of how much of the route they complete. Our goal is to give our supporters the best possible experience, and your role in that is vital!
Before the event you will receive an information pack, so you know what to expect on the day. You will also be invited to join a pre-event Zoom call to meet the team. Upon arrival on the day, you will be given a thorough briefing.
NOTE: As the route marshal role will involve walking to your assigned location on route we are looking for volunteers who are able to complete this and other tasks outlined in the advert.
Hours: 9am - 5pm Age: The minimum age to volunteer at this event is 16. If you are under 18 you will be assigned a role in the charity village. We will discuss this in more detail with you 1-1.
Reasonable travel/out of pocket expenses will be covered.
Next Steps: We value each and every one of our volunteers and aim to provide roles that align with their interests and needs. After submitting your application, we will arrange a conversation to further discuss the roles and identify any special requirements.
Join us in making Walk for Humanity a success. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
Diversity
Diversity is something we celebrate. We want you to be able to bring your authentic self to the Red Cross and feel that you belong.
We want to create an inclusive environment, and promote and spread the power of kindness.
As part of creating an inclusive space we have an expenses policy that prioritises volunteers not being out of pocket for expenses linked to your role. If up front costs are difficult, you can speak to your volunteering manager about this to find alternatives.
We welcome refugees, asylum seekers and others currently in the UK to volunteer with us.
We want volunteering to be accessible to everyone.
Health and Safety Statement
We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety.
We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and will also have a conversation with you to discuss and identify any adjustments you may need.
