British Red Cross work experience placements include a combination of office administration and work on discrete, short-term projects, depending on the person’s areas of interest and skill. Work experience typically takes place on a full-time basis for one or two weeks.

Work experience placements give an opportunity to gain experience within different departments and an insight into the work of the British Red Cross.

The expected start date for this work experience is 7 July 2025 and it will run for one week, Monday to Friday, 10:30am to 3:30pm.

We are offering an exciting 5-day work experience placement focused on Humanitarian Diplomacy and International Law. This opportunity will provide valuable insight into the intersection of policy, diplomacy, and humanitarian action.

Typical tasks on the work experience may include:

  • Develop and compile comprehensive acronym libraries for Humanitarian Diplomacy masterclasses
  • Research and analyse cases of red cross emblem misuse
  • Attend team meetings
  • Support administrative tasks related to international law and humanitarian policy initiatives

We would like you to have good interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and teamwork skills although full training can be given for any technical requirements. We keep the beneficiary at the heart of what we do, working to understand their needs and the difference we make.
